Snow, Ice and Psalm 139
By Rev. Peter Brechbuhl @ 1:23 PM :: 1897 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Devotional, Biblical

    The ice storm this weekend left an incredible variety of ice structures on the trees and on the ground around my house.  Scientists say that each ice crystal and each snow flake is unique, the uniqueness determined by the temperature and humidity at the time of formation.
      Psalm 139 says that each of us is uniquely and wonderfully created, our uniqueness determined not by temperature and humidity but by God.  Verses 13ff proclaim God's creative power in every human being:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    This weekend we celebrate Life Sunday which focuses on the sanctity of each life created as a unique person by God in their mother's womb.
